Our Regina office is currently looking for a Hazardous Materials Technologist to provide support for hazardous material abatement, mould and indoor air quality projects in the industrial, commercial and residential real estate industries.
Qualifications:
- Entry Level to 1 year experience
- A combination of relevant education and experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions
- Working knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
- Quick thinking and decisiveness when a situation requires it
- Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.) would be considered an asset
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Basic drafting (CAD) skills considered an asset
- Reliable personal vehicle required
Responsibilities:
- Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.
- Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities
- Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
- Conduct air quality assessments, including indoor air and occupational hygiene
- Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
- Prepare technical reports
- Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
Working Conditions:
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (respiratory equipment, etc.)
- 40 hour work week with some flexibility required to work the occasional weekend
- Majority of field work will be single days or overnight stays in and out of the city – mileage reimbursement
- Field work approximately 75% (office 25%), subject to change based on project workload
- In-house training is provided
