Lead in paint (or other materials) is a worker and occupant exposure issue during industrial operations, renovation and demolition projects. There are not clear regulations and guidelines in dealing with lead as a waste issue (such as stripping paint from surfaces).
Proper identification of paint content is critical prior to initiating a project. Other heavy metals, such as mercury, may be present in paint or other building controls systems and industrial applications, must be identified prior to disturbance. It is important to have proper identification, risk assessment, dust control, and worker protection defined.
As a plant manager, building owner, or project manager, you may face serious liability risks if lead is not identified before major renovation projects begin.
PHH ARC provides services such as:
- Paint sampling and reporting
- Risk assessments
- Development of work procedures
- Inspections and monitoring
- Waste characterization for disposal (special waste or regular landfill)
