Many workplaces contain spaces that are considered to be "confined" because their configurations hinder the activities of employees who must enter and exit them.
Confined spaces can pose a serious, sometimes lethal, threat to worker health and safety.
Our staff have developed various procedures for entry into boilers, storage tanks, sewers and other vessels. The written procedure is the cornerstone of an effective confined space entry program. Following the implementation of a procedure, all workers must be adequately trained on the hazards and proper protocol for entry into confined spaces.
The industrial hygienists at PHH ARC Environmental can help employers control this hazard by:
- Developing safe entry procedures
- Initiating permitting programs
- Providing worker training
- Performing on-site testing for chemical contaminants, explosive gases and oxygen sufficiency
